I’m researching my family tree for my son, as I would love to be able to pass on the story of his ancestors.
My father in law, John Southall lived in Bermuda during 1970-1975 and married a lady named Betty Kay Hunton. I am trying to find a little more information on her if possible to fill in the gaps. All I have so far is the record of marriage. I believe they divorced and she remarried a gentleman named John Powell. Any info would be amazing.
A bit of a long shot, I know, as I have started to research part of the Smith’s family, the information I know is as follows:
Coleridge Eaton Smith born in 1881 in Tucker’s Town, and his father was Ashton Thomas Smith, a farmer.
Coleridge came to UK in early 1900’s where he remained until his death.
Coleridge was shown as a Ships Carpenter in 1911
Any information would be gratefully received, or types of records that are available for research, as a family member may have the opportunity to visit Bermuda later this year.

from 1962 to 1966 we lived on an estate, our address was LYNNWOOD COTTAGE.
Our father was stationed at kindley afb where my sister was born in 1965. Both of parents are now deceased and I’m the only one left to remember. We lived on an estate I thought the owners last name was Sisson, but now I don’t now for sure. They had a gardner named Mr George. We lived in a two story house on the property and we could walk to their boat to go fishing.
Can someone tell me if the house is still standing and if it’s now on what is called Lynnwood Dr

I am trying to locate where my great Aunt and Uncle have been buried. They were born in the UK and moved to Bermuda around 1912 to work for the Governor of Bermuda. They then worked for Vincent Astor at Ferry Reach. My great uncle was called Percy Hammond. He died at Ferry Reach 4th Feb 1957 aged 74. My great aunt was Mabel Hammond who died in 1977 aged 93.
When I was a child in 1974, my family and I visited Bermuda to celebrate my great aunts 90th birthday. I remember the trip well.
My dad is now 84 and has always wished to return to Bermuda, so I am travelling with him from the UK to Bermuda in March 2018. It would be great if we could visit the graves of his Aunt and Uncle whilst there, but do not know where they were buried.
Are you able to assist at all, or point us in the right direction of where to enquire please?

I would love some help if anyone has information about the following. I’ve been trying to find some trace of family on my father’s side. All I have is my grandfather’s birth certificate. I ordered this from Bermuda many years ago and it arrived but when I contacted them recently for more info they had no trace of this birth certificate. Very strange. My grandfather was born in Sandy’s Parish Bermuda on 4 June 1878 to a father listed as Duncan Brown a sapper in the Royal Engineers and mother Margaret Brown nee McGrath or MaGrath. That is the sum total of information that I have. I would love to know where they went after their posting in Bermuda. Did they stay, go back to UK or to Canada? Any info greatly appreciated.
Bermuda did not keep any of the overseas military records here – i.e. all British records were filed in England.
This information, therefore, should be available via the National Archives (UK).

I have been in contact with a Ray Duncan for 3 yrs that says his son’s name is Michael and that the are stuck in France. He was an engineer and accepted a job there but has extenuating circumstances for not being able to leave France with his son yet . He did talk about a vacation sometime in Bermuda when he gets back, because he talked about taking me there to see beautiful sandy (white or pink) beaches there.
I don’t know if he might be related to you. But he has talked about a Debbie as Michaels mother . He had mentioned going to school in England .. we talk by phone a lot. My name is Yvonne. Looking forward to your reply and possibly being of some help to you.

Hello. I am searching for any information about Cornell Alexander James Edwards born between 1950-1952. All I have is my birth certificate that lists him as my father and at the age of 35 in 1987 and I also have a address book entry with a name of his aunt Shirley Box. I was born in Bermuda (and now live in Vancouver). My great grandfather was John Hyram Paynter Patterson. He married his first cousin, Mary Amelia Young who was the daughter of Mary Sarah Patterson. Mary’s husband was Robert Henry Young. My great great grandfather also married into the Young family. In those days, Cousins married cousins over several genarations as they all lived next to each other. My father, John Ralph Hollis Patterson was given his first job (at 19) working for Cyril Young (his cousin) at the Bermuda Fire & Marine Insurance Company. Cyril Young was a decendent of the same Young family.
I am looking for more information on a George Ferguson born in Bermuda around 1833.His father possibly with the same name was born in Scotland and his mother was born in Bermuda. She might have been a Sears/ Searle.George Ferguson married a Sophia Jane Jones from England on Feb. 15, 1859 at St. John’s Church in Pembroke Parish. They lived there until 1890 and had seven children all born in Hamilton Bermuda Henry William Corson, Letitia Eugenie, Charles Clement, Gordon, George Willoughby Riordan, Clarendon, Charles Reginald and Lester Charles Ferguson. They moved to New York City in 1890. I am searching for the names of the parents of George Ferguson and also Sophie Jane Jones. I do not know what occupation George Ferguson had in Bermuda and why Sophia Jane Jones came to Bermuda. Any information would be helpful . Thanks Jane

Unfortunately, information from 19th Century Church Registers Of Bermuda, compiled by A.C.H. Hallett, does not confirm this claim. The only two John Francis Williams are listed below:
John Francis Williams born to Susan Williams (father not named) – baptism May 10 1846 (Southampton Baptisms)
John Frith Williams born to John and Emily Helen Williams on August 8 1880 – baptism August 9 1880 (Presbyterian Baptism) – burial August 10 1880.
Presbyterian Baptisms – children of Hezekiah F Williams and Mary M. Williams –
Matson Williams born August 31 1842, baptised Dec. 25 1842
Cornell Williams born Sept. 3 1844, baptised Jan. 5 1845
Helen Darling Williams born October 10 1848, baptised Feb. 11 1849
Mary Mehitabel Williams born (dates not provided February? 1858 – Entry incomplete) [she died in 1858, aged 5 months]
This does not mean that they are not his parents, just that there is no recorded baptism record! There are several birth announcements in the Royal Gazette for children born to Hezekiah Frith Williams whom do not appear in the baptism registers. Please note that one entry in the Royal Gazette newspaper of March 20, 1855 states: “Hezekiah F. Williams, birth of twins, a son and a daughter, in Warwick on March 2.”

Hi.
I am trying to find information on my grandfather, who was buried in Bermuda in or about 1958 after suffering a massive heart attack at sea. I don’t know anything else besides his name and year of birth: Fritz Albert Rönneburg, 1915.
I assume his grave has since then been discontinued as all the family lives in Europe. I don’t know if anybody payed for any maintenance in the years after his burial. He was Catholic, a sailor (machinist) and toured the world with a possibly Greek shipping company (don’t think it was Onassis).
How and where can I find out more?
I am looking for more information on the Ray family in Bermuda. Ella Maud Ray had 9 children. 5 with Gerald Samuel Ray and 4 with William Henry Symonds.

My research says he was born in St. Kitts and moved to Bermuda where he married and had children. I am a Guishard whose family originated from St. Kitts. I am trying to connect him to one the Guishard families in St. Kitts

owned a grocery store on Khyber Pass. He also had a trucking company.
